I have an ambition to camp on the machair at the back of a white sand beach on Tiree, preferably in mid summer.

Never camped, but the Tiree lodge always felt a bit like wild camping, although to be fair I had an excellent time with them after doing some work on the island and getting stuck on for an extra 4 days as the boat couldn't land. Obviously mid summer has it's advantages, but mid winter is a great time to head to Tiree especially if you really want to get away from it all.
