Ignore the bike snobs, one more of us (folk on a bike) and one less of them (folk not on a bike)
It doesn't matter what type, make, model or cost of the bike.
As long as you enjoy it
As long as you get enjoyment from it then its perfect for you. In time you may want to upgrade but for now keep riding.
See plenty of people out on my rides who have 'all the gear, but no idea!'

also consider putting road tyres on the red machine then it will be the red rocket !!

Its a bike its meant to be ridden no matter what the cost,I can remember my when bikes were off the council tip as my old man was a dustcart driver and I suppose a BSO bike was the bike of my dreams.You enjoy your bike
