To be fair Zoiders it also appears that it wasn't the case that the police were choosing not to act because he was under suspicion of more serious things.
Yet it was probably just as likely if not more so, it also had the benefit of not being a paranoid and sweeping statement made by people with a personal problem with the police service.

It's the kind of thing we don't need really in the commuting section is it?

if we don't need it, don't start it.
Wasn't me was it?

Just wondering why people felt the need at the time.

So he was in fact the owner of the car? The same person the police allegedly spoke to and who denied using it that day? Great police work.

I missed that - really? My understanding is that he's not the registered owner, and that police spoke to the registered owner who claimed not to know him and that the car got "borrowed" and returned by persons unknown when he'd left the car parked with the keys in at a funeral.

That's exactly what I was wondering. I haven't seen anything that suggested the driver and owner were the same person.

The car owner was at a funeral.

The attacker/driver had just lost his mum.

I'm not saying they are the same, as nothing says they were - but do you think its possible that the said driver was just driving back from a funeral and decided to use that as his sympathetic grasping excuse for his whereabouts on the day? Certainly looks like the type of attire for a lout at a funeral.

Certainly "I left the keys in it, and it was returned" sounds like a loophole from someone that knows what they are doing.

I would say surely the police could match the owner from the video or not - but this is where I don't think its too far fetched to guess they didn't

The one thing that the car owner and the 'puncher' have in common are that they were bnoth involved with a funeral that day, so I expect that 'I don't know who was driving my car' was in fact a load of rubbish and obstruction of a police inquiry.

I don't know but it seems to suggest that, will need more information.

One of the local thugs I remember from school died in a house fire and the paper was saying what a loving and well liked individual he was when everyone was actually glad he wasn't around to carry out violent robberies against children any more.
