Drivers and companies that have earnt a 'well done'

I'm not up North any more but I give a big thumbs to LothianBus their training produces very alert drivers. I might come across one or two good bus drivers elsewhere but every driver is like that in Edinburgh (the maroon ones anyway) and it seemed to be rubbing off on the other companies operating in the town

Not on the lines of good driving but I reported a lorry cutting in on me at a pinch point about a week ago. I reported it to the company that was on the trailer and provided them with all the details they required.
I have now received this email:

I thought I would provide an update to you regarding this matter.

Thanks to the excellent level of detail you provided, we have successfully identified the vehicle and driver. Senior Management at the applicable site are now in the process of carrying out a full investigation which may lead to disciplinary procedures commencing as a result.

I can assure you that we are doing all we can to resolve this and take matters of road safety extremely seriously. I wonder if you are satisfied enough with our actions to consider removing your video from You Tube?

Thank you once again for the level of detail you provided. Without it, we would have been unable to fully investigate this incident.

S Cooper's & Sons Ltd haulage company (based in Winsford, Cheshire) have earnt a huge well done & thank you today. Not the easiest of cycling conditions (it was a touch breezy at times today ) , but I had a physio appointment to get to in Middlewich and only the bike to get there. I must have been overtaken by at least 10 of their lorries today and not a single bad overtake. 2 in paritcular was great. 1 where I was in a segregated 'cycle' lane (In quotes because techically it is the side of the road but just happens to be around 1m wide and gets used as a cycle lane), the driver went over to the other side of the road to avoid turbulance issues during a particulaly windy patch. the other driver (who reg is noted) stayed behind me for the best part of 2 miles along the "I'm getting out of Middlewich" stretch of the A54. He never hassled me, he never revved his engine, he never got too close to me (in fact at times because of the high winds, I could not hear his engine), he ignored 2 small gaps when others would have tried overtaking me (and been sworn at for it) and waited patiently. Where I needed to turn off at the top of a small, but steep incline and pinch point, he held back and waited and waited for me to turn, never getting too close and as it turned out he was coming the same way, he then waited until the road was completely clear and passed me on the otherside of the white line! (I am saying he - I don't actually know if it was a he, I was too busy concentrating on staying on the road, doding potholes and trying my hardest to stay upright in the wind! Anyhow an email has been sent to them complimenting them on their drivers.

Had to email serco this morning. One of their vans followed me for quite a while before overtaking and doing it safely. I was wobbling about in the tornado and barely moving forward either lol. He just seemed very considerate.

good point. If it was any other road I would have done, but this is a peculiar road with some awkward junctions and I had thought I had left enough room for him in the 1 way section of it, but he chose not to overtake at that point. You then get a really awkward mini roundabout and a longish down hill section where I holding the speed limit of 30mph for a while (and even as a car driver I don't care about holding people up when I am at the speed limit, emergency vehicles being the exception obviously) - and to be honest I can't see the point of loosing that speed for the little nasty uphill where it is too narrow for a car to overtake me - the faster I clear that uphill section and get off that road, the better - my new cassette should help with that. (My physio is on that road so I have to do it to get there. usually I avoid it.)

Very patient driving from a Waitrose lorry this morning.

He got stuck behind me at the start of a narrow road through Epping Forest. Usually, there is a gap in traffic at that time for them to overtake, but he was particularly unlucky and followed me for a good mile, not once coming too close or trying to overtake.

Didn't get a reg number as he went off in a different direction at the roundabout, but will send them a thank you anyway.
