Hmm. Not sure that driver did much wrong there Mikey. You could have easily eased off a little to help him out.

I could have, but he shouldn't have pulled out and I didn't need to ease off as I was on two wheels. Give way means give way, i.e. don't make other vehicles have to change their speed or direction to correct for your mistake.

How pig headed! Just remember that it can be very hard to pull out of side roads sometimes, if you are not a little pushy then you could end up there all day, literally. Also there was a car between yourself and him when he began his manoeuvre so he most likely did not expect you to come storming past like that.

Sorry Mikey but in this case you are clearly in the wrong. We'll have to put your hot headedness down to a lack of sleep?

LOL, no hotheadedness. As you imply, I certainly could have been more tolerant, and I would have been in the car, but not on the bike. I didn't do anything wrong, the driver simply shouldn't have pulled out. No excuse.

how fast were you going there Mikey? looked rapid

I agree, no business pulling out, it would been a lot more than easing off a bit to make the driver's manouvre work, I'd have done the same, if I was going that quick anyway

A lack of ability to see fault in ones self, also very symptomatic of hot headed new dad suffering lack of sleep. We'll let you off this time, but you need to pull your socks up Mikey. Tut tut. *Shakes head*

I think Mickey has a good point. The fact that he shot past the car tells you how fast he was going. I'd bet good money that the driver wouldn't have pulled out if Mikey had been in a car or van so he shouldn't have done so for a bike.

LOL, nice windup Dom. It ain't working though, mostly because I'm a sod of a Dad, I abandoned ship and am currently sleeping in the lounge. Lucky my missus is a tolerant sort.

About 30mph there, I can get up to 40 down Bromley Hill but not this time as all the cars were slowing me down. Morally wrong of course...

I must admit, I would have slowed down there and waited behind the car.

Yes the driver did make a mistake, but it is a common one, where drivers underestimate the speed of a bike (all be it a very strange looking one!)

Had the driver been more aggressive and accelerated faster you could have got stuck out in no mans land (beside the car) and facing oncoming traffic.

As for moving into the lounge, that is outrageous! You big Jessie!!!:biggrin:

I think you need to be a bit open minded about letting people out BM, Dom has a point sometimes you have got to go or otherwise you'll never get out of a junction.

You ease out a bit, make eye contact with the road users, see a gap emerge when someone lets you go, and then go. You don't barge out.

The point at where the driver pulls out you still have a good 50-60 yards of road to change direction and speed which you did, if the driver had pulled out when you've only 10-20 yards of road then that's different...

Different magnitudes of error. Here the mototist misjudged the cyclists speed, I think its that simple. The motorist made an error, not THAT serious an error, but even so, its his mistake.

Looking at it again as well even if you was a small car he would have still pulled out.

And he'd have still been wrong.

This is often the problem. I had the same yesterday and she even made eye contact with me before pulling out. Some drivers just cannot get it into their thick heads that a cycle may be travelling at more than 20 miles an hour

All of which is why we need to take this into account, be tolerant and accept that these are normal people who will make mistakes.
