I've murdered several Dyson cleaners over the years by simply having the temerity to vaccum with the house with them. Gave in and bought a Henry (well, a pink Hettie because she was thirty quid cheaper) and I've been reliably dust free ever since.

In between here and there
Not sure if this is serious thread, but I was really impressed and I hate these sort of purchases it was a workout using it on carpet tiles apart from trying to pull them up it would barely move as it was sucking hard, sealed bags and 13 stage air filter. My wife has collected 3 Dyson and I had enough of trying to clear the feckers.

I had a Dyson, not impressed and happy when it died.
Next was a Dirt devil from Makro, magic wee vacuum
Current is a Vax, ok but waiting for it to pop so I can get a cordless :okay:

My wife was sucked in by the clever marketing, the useless machine was given away after a few months, a Sebo they are certainly not.
I saw wot you did there

My wife insisted on the DC01 when it was quite new and found it marvellous, albeit quite expensive. It gave us years of sterling service and we inevitably brought another Dyson, can't remember which model now. As time as gone on we got up to a DC07...it just wasn't as well built as the early models and we've moved away now to other brands.
The early ones really were (IMO) good as as good if not better than many other makes...but it's just not true anymore I think.

I recently stripped down my DC14 to replace the motor. The build quality was similar to the Meccano things I used to build when I was 8 years old.
Tomorrow at work I have to strip down a DC07 "Animal", which looks to be similar to the DC14 but with some overly complicated clutch system built in. I suspect the clutch is to blame for the non operation of the sweeper brush.
On the performance front though, I quite like them. When properly sorted with clean filters and parts working as intended, they do a better job than some of the much more expensive brands available.
I tried repairing either a hepa or an animal, can't remember the specific type...bl00dy nightmare. I gave up and binned it.
James Dyson is one of the very few famous millionaires I have ever met*. I subsequently try and avoid any of his products, as he's something of a twat and I'd rather go around with wet hands than contribute another penny to his offshore fund.

*Out of two.
Not so offshore, he is buying lots of land in these parts, tax benefits some are saying.

My Dyson ball is ok. I actually find it harder to turn than a normal vac. Sometimes the tube comes away under turning stresses. Also it’s no good for more industrial jobs as it blocks up easily.

I've got a Henry (over 20 years old) and a Dyson DC14 (13 years old). Both have their strengths and weaknesses, but nothing sucks like an electrolux
