So you have to use paypal now?

Along with the farce that you couldn't charge postage on certain items - which cost me a fortune last time around.

I don't think I shall bother with them again - bring back the good old days when you had three or four auction sites to choose from - are there any alternatives now?

You don't have to use paypal. You have to offer it as an option (except on cars, and perhaps other large items which require collection) but you can make it clear in the listings that it's not your preferred option. I always do, whereas before paypal became compulsory I was happy enough to accept it. Strange, eh?

Ebay owns Paypal so no surprise they are trying to exclude cash on collection. Ebay and Paypal are crooks. If something goes wrong with your purchase or sale and you are a genuine buyer or seller you are stuffed as Paypal with stiff you with charges to get your hands on your money if you are refunded, refusing to refund to your orginal credit card you made the payment with. On the couple of occasions I have had problems with items I have liaised with sellers direct and got full refunds including postage. I only had one transaction that went bad where the seller refused to respond, so set up a complaint/dispute with Ebay/Paypal. They refused to respond closing the complaint afer 45 days. Got absolutely nowhwere despite re-opening it.

Ebay and Paypal are a crock of sh1t if things go wrong. Ebay is a market paradise for fraudsters, counterfeiters and thieves. You only have to look at the number of dodgy sellers allowed to continue selling top end bicycles that have clearly been nicked despite Ebay being notified buy lots of genuine concerned cyclists eg ttcycle's Spec Ruby.

Ebay and Paypal = AVOID.

I only resort to it if I've got an item that will only be easy to sell if it has an audience the size of ebay's. That's just a case of getting the best price, weighed against the fees. It's definitely best to leave it as a last resort though and list it up on forums and local classifieds first.
