I can;t do it now as all my rides a private

but when they were public my rides all appeared along with non-electric bike
which was one of the reasons I went back to private

even now - when I check after a ride - such as when there was a gale force wind across The Bridge - it looked very much like my ride was lumped in with all bikes

has this changed - or am I looking at it wrong??

As I pointed out earlier, on Garmin GPS systems and the Android Strava app you have to change the ride mode to 'Ebike Ride' before you start recording and then on completion of the ride it automatically uploads to the correct heading as per my ride yesterday as below.
It is also possible to edit the ride mode from 'Ride' to 'E-bike Ride' after it's been uploaded to Strava to put it into the correct category.

Yes - I agree - that happens to me as well

what I meant - but didn;t explain too well - was the entry on the segments leaderboards

even though my ride are logged a ebike rides when I look at my records

when I look at the segments I appear along with other bikes

not sure if the fact that it was an ebike ride would be clear to other people if it was public

Just change it to ebike ride and the leaderboards should correct.

Just as an experiment I changed the above ride which has only 5 segments shown as an E-bike ride to a standard Ride, refreshed the page and 30+ segments were shown. Where segments match for the two ride types, they have different names and different leader boards.

Does it really matter if people are cheating on Strava? The only person a cheat is cheating is his/her self.

In my view Strava is good place to easily record and keep a history of one's efforts. Beyond that it's really quite meaningless. I'll admit to a warm glow on the odd ocassion I look and see I've done well in my age group for a segment. Even then it's only if I know the other riders with similar times.

Gaining kudos is largely irrelevant. Post a ½ mile and marvel at the number of clicks it gets.........proving most don't even notice the distance ridden let alone how fast!!

Whatever checks Strava have built in are pretty weak. I had it recording me shopping in town as a walk yesterday but forgot to stop it when I got back to the car. As such I got a rediculous "walk" being highly praised by Strava AI until I cropped it

Doesn’t seem to work like that in all circumstances. At least it for me it was inconsistent on the edge 530, and on the Explore 2 it doesn’t even have an e-bike ride mode. It’s got Road, Off road and Indoor.

I presume it uses the fact the bike itself is an e-bike, which it can tell for the bikes that are connected via Bluetooth or ANT+.
But for ebikes that either aren’t connected or don’t even have the connectivity built in, there's no way it can possibly tell.

Ok - but that means that segments are set up as being relevant to certain types of activities
I have never set one up so I have no idea what you do

but it makes sense

but the question I have - but have not yet bothered to research

if whether or not all rides of all types of bike are included in a segment's leader board

if they are then they should really be flagged

but ebike rides are really just dumb things to have a leaderboard for - after all most ebikes have different levels of power assist
and different ebikes have different way of delivering power
OK - bikes are different - a full on road bike is a very different thing to an MTB - but if you chuck in a motor it just gets worse

but anyway - they are pretty irrelevant anyway unless you know what the wind speed and direction are
as I have said before I was 3rd on one segments near here at one point - average speed over 20 mph to the motor assist was well past its cut off speed
but there was a gale force tailwind (yes - a tail wind!!!) at the time!!!

Ebike Ride segments on Strava are wholly different to Ride ones. You will find some rhe same as there use to be a way of copying Ride segments across as an Ebike Ride segment but with separate rider records being attached to them.
Presumably Ride segments originally were scarce.
