Ear Infection

Two days before the end of my holiday(last Friday)i got a blocked left ear and i put it down to swimming.I got home Sunday and to managed to get a doctors appointment for Monday who confirmed it was an ear infection and prescribed antibiotics.
Since then it's got a lot worse with the ear canal narrowing and a jaw ache.Anyone else had this?
How long before the antibiotics start working because it's pretty darn painful?

I used to get this all the time

especially after a holiday

Initially the ear would always get worse but after a few days it started to get better

main thing is that NOTHING gets put into your ear
not matter how it itches or hurts

That was always my problem - it itched so badly, especially when getting better, that I always wanted to scratch it
and HAD to stop myself - which was very hard to do

Best wishes for the ear
if it is not better when you have only a day left then get back to the doctor urgently - you may need a longer course

Go straight back to your doctor asap.
Yes I have had that. Took matters into my own hands with ear wax remover, then antibiotics, which led to a hospital outpatient referral and an day patient operation to remove a cyst and now have two hearing aids ( I’m 78). Please try and get an early appointment, you will be just fine.

I have to concur with dicko. A long time ago when my son had ear ache the Doc said blah blah blah and prescribed antibiotics.
It got no better so we went private and were told to get him hospital immediately. Sadly too late, he lost his hearing for good in that ear.
I hope yours gets better quickly but don't hang around hoping.

Had this a couple of years ago. Had to play a gig deaf in one ear, in pain and feeling distinctly queasy and wobbly, not the most enjoyable experience.

Antibiotics perked it up pretty quickly, was starting to feel better well within 48hrs. If you're going the wrong way I'd see if theres a walk in ENT dept at your local hossy.

Best of luck.
