I was prescribed a weeks supply of Amoxicillan so if I'm not any better when they start to run out I'll be straight over the quacks.
Thanks for all your helpful comments.
Sorry i didn't get back on this.
To cut a long story short i went back to my doctors and was told that taking Amoxicillin wasn't any good for ear infections so no wonder you wasn't feeling any better.
Even with antibiotics tablets and ear drops the pain just got worse and when i got an appointment with ENT they said the infection was so bad it had caused two polyps to form inside your ear.
Anyway after a load of appointments in which they cauterized the polyps i am back to normal now.I will have to wear ear plugs though when i go swimming as they said you will be susceptible to ear infections now.

Painkillers if the pain is short stabbing. Sudafed to help with clearing congestion issues. That's what our GP family member tells us

Two days before the end of my holiday(last Friday)i got a blocked left ear and i put it down to swimming.I got home Sunday and to managed to get a doctors appointment for Monday who confirmed it was an ear infection and prescribed antibiotics.
Since then it's got a lot worse with the ear canal narrowing and a jaw ache.Anyone else had this?
How long before the antibiotics start working because it's pretty darn painful?

Had it in both when Atlanta Olympics was on. I didn’t sleep for nearly 48 hours & it took 7 days to subside. Bad memories from this post. Get well soon.
