I am more than happy to get up mega early and go for a ride, but this Sunday, I might start at 4:30 AM (Sunrise is 4:54 AM) so by the time i'm all ready I will see it rise.

I could probably stay out for three and a half hours and get some serious miles in.

Now usually my wife moans at me for always being on my bike, but the other morning she was woken at 4:40 am and said "Wow, look at the sunrise, you should go out at this time" - Music to my ears!

Or should I just stick to a regular 7 am, or 8 am ride ?

Having done the Pru Ride 100 twice (leaving the house at 4am) I have no issue with an early start.

I see a couple of folk on Strava out at all hours.

The side effect will be that I will be tired later in the day! I guess I will have to cover that up.

I don't know what to do!

If it's dry (I was going to say sunny ) then go for it!

Agreed, the roads are quiet, the air is clean and if sunny it's beautiful.

I'm up at 6am tomorrow for some miles but mind it at all, just means you get the road to yourself and makes it all the more enjoyable!

Go for it. I hope to be out early tomorrow, but 4.30 am is the middle of the night to be on a Saturday. Enjoy your ride.

I did my first early start (04:30) a few days ago and loved it. Less traffic and the cooler conditions were 2 of the reasons I smashed my longest recorded ride of 40km, managing 69km. Getting home before the mrs and kids got up felt a bit strange though, It felt like half the day had gone but it was only 08:45 ^_^

Do it

On early shift I'm out of the house by around 4.50am. At the current time of year it's fantastic. Virtually no traffic (this is going into Leeds) and just the wildlife for company. Loving it.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Go for it if you can
I will probably be finishing work at that time Saturday morning
My problem with early riding is mrs ck is notorious for not getting up early on a weekend so i have missed many a club run as she does not get up till after i should have left , with a 3 and 8 year old it means i cant just go .She does ask why i did not wake her up ................... erm yea right i know how she would whinge if i did .
