If I'm up and have a ride planned, I'll go out.

Occasionally I've been out at 4-6am and it's quieter. Much better for a solo ride than the middle of the day.

I'm leaving for Brighton this Sunday at 5am in order to miss traffic and stay cool. Much prefer to make the most of daylight.

This time of the year I set off for work at 5am, get three or so hours of peaceful riding before the stress of the working day kicks in. Only problem you may find is if you want a cafe stop as most of them are shut at that time of day!

I dont start anywhere near as early as some of you, but I much prefer getting up & going out "first thing" in the morning to riding at any other time of day.

I've got a 100 miler planned for Sunday, I should be finished for lunchtime. You can't beat riding on quiet roads, it's so much nicer than later in the day.

I'm a postie so get up early every day anyway, you would not believe the amount of people that are still in bed at lunchtime all days of the week (they don't all work nights!).

If you want to put the mega miles in, you have to be up mega early.

All for early starts, although perhaps not quite as early as some.
Alarm is set for 6am tomorrow, a good ride on quiet roads and be back in time for a stroll down to the shop for a paper. I can always have a cheeky 40 winks while the Grand Prix is on...

This morning, I got up at 4:30 to be out the door at 6 or so. Pretty much everyday, as I assist at early mass on Sundays, and Saturdays I sometimes do long rides or maintenance on bikes when possible. Weekdays, I have 10 hour days driving shuttle bus, so it's up then as well. Wednesdays, have to get Mrs. GA in to work , it's my day off but lots to do, so I'm up again at about 4:30.

Last Saturday I set off at 5am but this Sunday I have beat that by quite some margin. 12,50am......Night riding!
An amazing sense of freedom and ownership of the roads describes it I think. At this time even the A646 into Halifax is reasonably quiet.
Rolling into Halifax center and stopping at lights by a big commercial night club and all the humanity that entails.
I was waiting for some comic to say something but it didn`t happen.
I think I was in such a different world to them I wasn`t even noticed

Yes,get out early. Get out ultra early, its even better.:okay:

And I'm off.... TBC.....

Left at five - intending to go from Newcastle to Blanchland in County Durham via part of the C2C route. Crossing the Millennium Bridge on a lovely summer morning just after five you just know that god spent a lot of his time creating Newcastle (ok he forgot the football team  ) then up through the Derwent Walk cycle path. Left the path and took to the road at Ebchester and crossed the valley up to Kiln Pit Hill -where there are some huge wind turbines but only one was turning out of the six - it was that still.
Then rode down to the Derwent Reservoir and into Blanchland - its a lovely village set in a square. Sat and had some refreshments here - just slightly annoyed that the smell of bacon from the hotel was wafting my way, with no means of getting any. Then off up to Corbridge - via the 20% road from Blanchland and back through Maften and Stamfordham for a 70 mile trip.

I took my steel bike for an hour at 4am this morning as I spent yesterday stripping and rebuilding it after eroica. Now back happy it is running smoothly and having some breakfast before heading back out. I think I will head to Portishead and look at the sea and then come back to Bath. Love riding early as possible. I commute each morning at 4am so i am definitely an early riser and early rider.
