don't come to Cornwall . bloody hills everywhere .

Just back from Cornwall and yes its hilly everywhere. However canal trail Padstow to Bodmin 12 miles is not that bad

The Somerset Levels might suit. Gentle cycling, plenty of places to stop for a bite to eat, and lots to do in the area from a touristy point of view.

I may decamp to Devon, the Tarka trail sounds flat.

Yep New Forest gets my vote too. It has something for everyone.

In September it won't be so busy as in high season, and the offroad tracks will probably still be nice and dry. There are route leaflets available from tourist info offices.

I contacted one of the cycle hire companies and they kindly sent me some of their route cards. I also believe there is a permenant audax route too which you can get and do part of.

Plenty of tea shops and villages to break up the rides and fantastic scenery too.

Yeah, but there's a tunnel through the hills to the north! (NCR26 between Axbridge and Winscombe)
