I'm eating too much junk at work - chocolate, crisps and cereal bars, and a cooked lunch of either pasta or steak pie etc.

I'm gonna make up some tuna and sweetcorn pasta, but gonna need a bit of variety. Like my veggies, but not a big fan of green salad.

Looking for simple, tasty lunch ideas...

Tin of soup and a bread roll. Lovely in these cold winter months.

Yes, hot thick soup and bread n butter.

Or a crisp sandwich (flavour of your choice, of course).

When you're dishing up your evening meal, get a sealable food container and put a small meal in it for the next day. 3 minutes in a microwave (assuming you have one at work)...job done, hot meal.
Tomorrow, ive got bacon, beans, tomatoes and mushrooms (this evenings meal), today, i had pork curry and rice (yesterday evenings meal) etc etc. Doesnt have to be a big serving, its so nice to have something hot.

Been doing it for years.

There may be two problems (most people have)-
Snacks between meals.
Junk food for meals.

Eat a big bowl of cerial for breakfast. That should stop you being too hungry until lunch time. Then eat a fair bit of carb for lunch (say three slices of bread) which gets you through to evening time. Keep some apples in work for if you do need a snack.

Then on to the meals. Breakfast is easy.

Lunch - perhaps try to not change too much. Start by just switching on your Fat and Sugar radar and cut these out. Everything else is fine to eat. Do not cut down on carbs - increase them if you can. As long as they dont have much added fat then they are fine.
I eat freely of things under 5% fat and then sparingly, or not at all, things over 5%.

If you are not a fan of green veg then dont force yourself to have them. There are non-boring green veg like watercress. Better to just eat the healthy things you do like rather than the ones you dont.

I can easily maintain a good weight on the above.

Noooo! Well, possibly not. Throughout my working life I always left the premises at lunch time, usually to walk to the market to buy some stuff to bring back to eat. By all means bring your lunch from home, but it's important for your health and sanity to get out of the building for half an hour: there's absolutely nothing worse than staying sat at your desk spooning food out of a Tupperware box.

All circumstances are different I guess, I go the tupperware route but if all goes well I bolt it down after getting down the gym - if it's a perfect day I would have actually got into a spin class

I have been working on my PC from home for years now, so apart from the occasional walk or bike ride, 90% of my waking life was spent in front of a computer, a TV, or sitting down and reading.

I only had to walk a few feet to fix myself some food or drink. This lifestyle finally caught up with me this summer when I developed a DVT in my leg and subsequently nearly died of a pulmonary embolism. Trust me - it really isn't something that you want to suffer!

So ... I strongly suggest that those of you with sedentary jobs take ASC1951's good advice and stretch your legs at lunch time - walk to the shops, a park or a cafe half a mile away! (Oh, and get up and walk around at least once an hour.)

Somewhere flat
Curry or spag bol, in a lockable lunchbox.

Alternative choice - couple of wholemeal pita breads, warmed in microwave and cut in half. Stuff with tomato and ham or chicken. Add Snak-a-Jacks as a side dish, for a bit of salty fun!

Greek yoghurt & honey for pudding and perhaps an apple.

I make it a point to leave the office. I nearly always bring my own lunch for cost reasons but I typically take it to a bench looking into the river to eat it as it is relaxing and clears the head and a welcome break from the PC screen.

Make a big pan of soup and freeze it in portion sized amounts.
Baked potato reheated in the microwave? Just don't do what I did and shrink the blasted thing!
Spaghetti hoops and feed the inner child.
Tortilla wrap instead of a sandwich.
