It's been a while since I bought sprouts on a stalk, but generally, if you buy the unpeeled ones (either loose or bagged) then they'll keep for a good couple of weeks - as long as you don't peel / wash them.

We should. One of the ways I loose money is growing organic veg. Theory would dictate that with a massive gash at one end of the sprout, moisture would be lost.

I smash up the stalks with a lump hammer and compost them.
Fair play, and feeding the sheep is cool too, but how many are land filled rather than ploughed back in, I wonder?
