Hi

Was bidding on a posting that was due to end this evening, 10 BST

Then, I go back to ebay just now to find the auction has ended and the winner won at 3:30pm

How flaming annoying is that - I was going to bid high for it.

Bloomin ebay. No warning of item advertised elsewhere, or bidding may end early.

Also, I emailed loads of questions and got no answers.

"Advertised elsewhere" is against eBay auction rules anyway. When I'm bored I surf eBay looking for auctions with it, report them, then titter to myself when they get removed.

If a seller doesn't answer a question I wouldn't be interested in purchasing the item as the seller doesn't sound too reliable.

If you didn't submit a bid then it's your 'problem'. If you had placed a bid and the seller cancelled it in order to end the auction early/to someone else then that's a problem that is common - again an unreliable seller and your probably better off as it is.

As others have said, I personally would never 'bid high' on anything from a seller too feckless or idle to answer a polite email. Indeed, I often use an email or two specifically to check out a seller before even thinking of bidding. As for the early ending, that can actually happen quite legitimately: someone comes and says 'will you end the auction early for £x?' Seller says ok. Then he relists it with a Buy it Now price of £x and the deal is done.

You can cancel an eBay auction anytime up to the last 12 hours. Better to know someone may cancel than not to know.

The seller cancels the auction and sells off eBay.

But if he cancells and sells off eBay doesn't it disappear and there is no winner?

I wish I understood eBay better.....

So the Ebayer closed the auction, but then split the item and cleaned them up. Much simpler and a more understandable auction. He probably had too many people asking the same question. Only issue now is, the item is now out of my budget.
