Turned on Battery Saver Mode, minimal backlight, 30sec screen-off, but kept on LiveTrack, Blutooth and all notifications. Quickly got used to intermittent use of screen (compared to having the screen on all the time). 20mile ride used up 15% battery so a better energy saving.
But, I did a 35miler on a weekend and the unit froze at 34mile (didn't realise until I stopped and realised the map hasn't kept up)! Quite annoying, but managed to salvage the 34mile ride data by long press on power and restarting. No biggie as it was only 1mile short (did some .GPX file editing on a website and copied the last 1mile track from another recent ride), but this experience dented my confidence on relying on the unit (first time it froze).
