Editing and saving bike cam footage on a mac?

Hello all,

At the minute I'm using an ancient mac.

I want to save some of todays footage from my fly6 camera. It wouldnt even open when I plugged the camera in and I had to install VLC, so I can now view the footage but still dont know how to edit and save.

Can anyone offer simple instructions?

It all depends upon the format

The Fly 6 uses AVI, which can cause some issues with software

There will always be an issue
with editing and saving this format

It's very old, about 8 years old at least I think, donated by my brother in law. I don't know what OS it is. I don't really know how to work a Mac.

Click on the small "Apple" on the top left of the tool bar

A screen will appear which will give you the OS (Operating System) on the overview tab

A recent Mac will have iMovie which is pretty good for free.

On Windows you can use Windows Movie Maker

Your camera footage might be difficult to import depending on the format, i actually have rename my file from .mov to .mp4 to get Adobe Première Pro to import them correctly.

Then print out all the separate JPGs, put them in a book. Flick through the book to get motion. Easy.

Don't be so ridiculous. You need a Zoetrope.

Thanks, I had been checking some other bits which is why it came up

The only issue you may have is if the video is say 2 hours in one go instead of in 5 minute chunks. There are, as has been said, loads of free tools or QuickTime Pro can be used to cut it up. Loads of tutorials too, it's pretty straightforward.

The principles are pretty much always the same, whatever program you use to put it together: trim the clips, put them in the order you want, extract the audio, add some inspiring music, etc.

Finally, something on here I actually know a bit about!
