It's still not that fast. My comment was because 30mph can be done on the slightest downhill with ease on a fast recumbent, and a medium downhill without even pedalling. On the flat needs a bit of work, well, a lot of work for me, but any really fast cyclist will be able to do that. I'm not including myself in that since I'm "cheating" via the recumbent. For example Will, Ben Borp, Roger or any of the others are probably powerful enough to ride me off on the flat, despite them being on upright bikes.
So not arrogance, more a joy in loving the speed of my recumbent, and perhaps a little bit of self-indulgence too.
