For anyone travelling abroad you may not realise that your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) has an expiry date. My advise is that you check your card now and renew it for free online if it has less than 6 months left to run.

Mine did too but I had been warned just in time and the replacements came the day before we left.

I'm sure I had to pay something though.

I don't have a photo on mine.

Back to the EHIC, I discovered mine had expired with no time to get a replacement before my holiday. The lady at the contact phone number was very understanding and told me just to take the old card anyway, also she gave me a phone number to call in event of any difficulties when abroad. The new card was on my doormat when I got home.

If you have an original paper licence you don't have to update it to the newer 2 part licence so you can carry on regardless until the end date printed on the original.
