email to text service

Been using an app IFTTT, quite handy for automating tasks on my phone. However there is an option to send a message to the wife ( or anyone else ) for when I leave work, so she knows I`m on the way and will know roughly what time I would be back home again. I noticed when setting it up there was an option for texting a message, however can`t seem to set that up in the UK, email works fine. Looking around other countries you can send an email to an address which converts to text and passes that on ? Is there anything like that here which would come out of your txt allowance or would it be a pay service I`m looking at ?

Can you not text from your phone? Or maybe setup a tracker app so she can see where you are and activate when leaving?

How about whatsapp you can send from pc or windows. Acts like a text but uses data.

The app I`m using is a recipe app, and I`ve created one which uses my GPS position to send a message to say I`m enroute, could not see how to make it send a text only an email?? Will have another look.

Can you not just send her an email or a text. I dont understand the need, sorry. Are you not able to send texts/mails yourself?

Bit wary of setting up regular messages to let your loved ones know what time you will be home.What happens on the days you forget or systems are down. Will it just worry your oh even more if they dont get a message?

Aye I could do , however this would just do everything for me ! Anyway just experimenting playing around with stuff .

To be honest I don't think she even picked up the email from me lol, she might not be that concerned lol
