I've not rode rode properly for quite a while so near the end of my 62km ride this morning it was somewhat embarrassing to be over taken by an older lady on a fully laden ladies bike fitted with 2 panniers :surrender:

In my defence my legs were shot to hell and were cramping above the knees but my god did it hurt the ego

I've been overtaken by a man walking his dog before now.
Although in my defence I had just spent the best part of three hours whizzing round the forest.

Cracking a solo.
My personal favourite was reaching the top of decent downhill section, 35mph easy, this is followed by a junction and a steep uphill. Anyway, checked behind as its a hill I take primary on and spot a cyclist some way behind me, game on I thought. So I turned on the burners () hammered down the hill, negotiated the junction (not held up at all) and set off up the hill, mid slog someone to my right said "Steep this one isn't it?"
"Bleugh" I managed to gasp
I looked to my right and was presented with the vision of a rather portly man on a beat up step through with a shopping basket on the front, I was in full lycra on the road bike. He did almost immediately cut to the other side of the road and stop, but whether he pushed from there or decided to wait rather than shame me further I have no idea

Some years ago a friend and I had grovelled up a short but very steep rise to a pub - both on decent road bikes and all lycrad up.
Imagine our mirth when we saw someone riding easily and calmly up the same rise.
On a cheap hybrid. In civvies. And a dog collar.
And she was older than both of us put together.
We were pwned by the Vicar of Dibley.
*weeps in shame*

A story a mate tells is of a fast club ride and a steep hill, the group is flying up this hill and my mate is flat out buring himself trying to stay with the group when becomes aware of one fella who's calmly riding at the back of the group, no handed talking on his phone at the pace of the group and not trying at all.
