In between here and there
Hi folks, seems like I missed all the fun. As jefmcg says I've broken my collarbone so haven't been riding, well I assume turbo miles don't count? (I don't log them anyway). Got told on friday its at least another 4 weeks so it's going to be at least August before I try and move up the leaderboard.

I have to say my main reason for using endomondo is the live tracking so hadn't been putting all my rides from my garmin on recently. I had been trying Strava but it doesn't motivate me as I am a rubbish climber!

Cycling, Transport or Cycling, Sport or Cycling, Mountain?

Imho any cycling, although I would frown at spinning or turbo miles. Sitting on a stationary bike just isn't the same.

There's the snag you see, you can't just have "cycling." You can have cycling sport, cycling transport or mountain biking so it's either log all your miles as one agreed category or have it as all sports.
The assumption was that the bulk of miles will be amassed through cycling, as it would be difficult to tot up too much mileage running, canoeing etc. Also, for me personally, it's about trying to get fit and a bit of fun so if I do do a lengthy walk, I won't feel bad uploading it (although 9 times out of 10 I don't bother)

Totally agree with the ban on spinning or turbo miles. Although it should probably have it's own merit award for putting up with the mind numbing boredom, the Endo challenges only apply to blood, sweat & tears ground out on the roads (or trails) ^_^

I'll set up the two for next Month then (unless someone else does it first) with the usual open one, which I'll make clear is open to all and the second one which will be closed to invite only. So, if you want me to put you on my Endo friends list, please send me your Endo name or email address that you use on Endo and I'll get you added (subject to the restrictions as per previous post)

I agree that we should have a challenge for CC members only. Whether it should have a post limit before eligibility I'm not so sure.

Now I have a friend who I've been inviting to these challenges, so I'd better get him to sign up here too!

I think you should have a special exclusion to invite who you like, as you started the CC challenge originally!

Cheers. The only down side is that to invite people they have to be friends with you, so we do need to make sure that everyone who wants to be in it sends both of us a friend request.

Easiest way is if you and I post the link to our Endomondo profile, and people can then request to be our friend, if they aren't already.

I only stumbled on this thread from the "regular forum members" July challenge. I'm Adam Stevens on Endomondo/IRL. http://www.endomondo.com/profile/329782

Personally, I enjoy the challenges, but hadn't really noticed loads of "non-CC-ers" had joined the other one. I resigned myself to not getting on the first page a few months ago, so don't tend to look these days.

I did take more notice of the "20th place ego boosting challenge", which I'm assuming is what we're talking about replacing with the "members only" challenge, so yes, on the whole, I think it's a good idea.

At the end of the day, there'll always be loads of people doing more miles than me, and even more doing less miles than me, and that's fine. I mostly use Endomondo for personal stats tracking, and because I can also log my swimming on it.

P.S, Despite saying I'm not really bothered, I feel it's important to point out I won one once :-)

OK, here's the plan.

Anyone who wants to be in the official CC challenge needs to send both Panter and me a friend request. That will be so much easier than Panter and me sending everyone else a request.

Done  (Already a friend of yours on endo) - Looking forward to actually competing rather than seeing the same names that are on top of all the challenges on endomondo

OK, I've gone and culled a load from my friends list. I basically only want people in it (bar a couple of others) that are CCers (otherwise it will be tricky remembering who to invite to the challenges). So if I have inadvertently removed anyone I shouldn't, please re-request.

Thanks.
