I can deliberately induce an ECU warning light on my car; simply stalling and restarting, without turning the ignition completely off first, will do it. I found out by accident but it didn't half worry me at first, until it happened a couple of times (I can't hear the engine tone over the AC, that's my excuse anyway) and I twigged.

Situation is......
Astra petrol auto.
Warning light is showing NOT FLASHING.
Garage can "look at it" tomorrow.
I am on my own (for one week) from the weekend and some days I struggle to walk so could do without losing it next week.
It seems to drive smoothly ie no noise or shuddering etc.
So.........
Could I chance putting it off for a week as I only drive short distances 3 times a week**
**maybe that is the problem ??

Since the warning light is on but not flashing and the car feels normal, it’s usually safe to drive short distances for now. But I’d still get it checked as soon as you can, just to avoid it getting worse - especially since you’ll be on your own going forward.
