A bit off topic but that's never stopped me before: is there any reason why Scotland couldn't play in blue instead of magenta? I reckon teams should only have to use the away strip when it clashes with the home team's strip.

I think what @Dayvo might have meant is that as far as a lot of people round the world are concerned -

UK = Great Britain = England = London

With no thoughts to the other home nations.
