I couldn't believe that. When Bopara dropped that catch I thought it was curtains. If they do get through, they are going to have to really up their game. They will get knocked playing like that.

To be fair they have played well enough against the top sides beating SA and tying a game they should have won against India. The problem has been lowering their game against weaker opposition.

If India beat the West Indies do we go on to the quarter finals, or are we relying solely on South Africa beating Bangladesh?

I really don't know all the in and outs but Agnew, writing on the bbc.co.uk site says this:

I think they will get through to the quarter-finals because one of the other results [in the matches between Bangladesh and South Africa or India and the West Indies] will probably go England's way.

So that suggests there are still 2 ways to go through. But having lost matches they looked like winning and won/tied matches that they looked like losing, making any prediction at all about England's progress is going to be a hazardous affair.

As I understand it, the only thing that could stop our brave lads progressing now would be for Bangladesh to beat S Africa and the West Indies to beat India. Neither, alone, would do it. Sad to say it, but it looks like dropping Anderson was the key move.

Must admit I had no confidence at all that we'd beat the Windies - the team just looked so tired and dispirited and out of sorts against Bangladesh. Now all of a sudden everything looks possible again. It's certainly been a weird roller coaster of a tournament.
