Hehe - I did a lap going anti-clockwise the previous Saturday but had to stop mid-climb a couple of times

The one I bottled out on this Sat was "Broomfield Hill". I have been sticking mainly to the East half of the park but have been there for the past 3 weekends... it's a nice environment.

Only just spotted this thread. I live just around the corner in Twickenham and for the first Saturday this November I'm not going to the rugby that day, so, erm, count me in.

So it's Roehampton Gate, Saturday 29th at 0930 wearing a red carnation

Also if it's really pi55ing down I might just turn up for a lap of the park, a cup of tea and then go to the pub to watch the rugby instead

I'm still chewing this one over although it'll be an early start for me to get there for 9:30am. How hilly is it? Bear in mind I'm a laydee who isn't so keen on hills, particularly with a trike of course. How long are y'all expecting it to take? I average 12ish mph so might hold you all up if I do come along...

[Edit]= Just read through the thread again and discovered there's a Turn Left At A Gate And Do Another Lap Of The Park option which makes the ride 25 miles which is probably more to my taste. I can then go and eat cakes with Speicher. Anyway assuming the weather is OK and I'm not überbusy with work and I wake up in time, I do hope to come along.

CoG has estimated the 48 miles to take 4 hours which is an average of 12mph. I think there's quite a mixture of abilities so speed shouldn't be an issue.

I'll be bringing along a tow rope to help me finish, as I've never done anything like 50 miles.

What's your furthest so far Redjedi?

About 20 miles which I took at a nice easy pace, not my commute mode of "must get there as fast as possible".

I felt surprising fresh afterwards and considered going for longer but there was a football match on TV which I didn't want to miss.

Sounds like you might be in a similar boat to me Redjedi (my furthest so far was this Sat @ 31 miles). It will be touch and go whether I do the shorter 25 miles & cake option or go for the hero-mode 48! Guess I'll see how I feel after the first 20 miles...

I don't think I will be, sadly my 'bent' legs are really out of practice at the moment.

The furthest I have ever ridden is around 110 miles in one day and that was 17 years ago!

The max I get to ride these days is only around the 20 mile mark.

50 miles at 12mph, in good company and with tea stops will fly by don't you worry!

As I can't make this, could I ask a small favour from those doing it this time? Could you take a portable tunneling kit and drill some tunnels through the hills ready for a repeat visit in the new year?
