So i have a raliegh sprint - alu frame, steel forks, 2300 sti's - basically a bog standard racing bike that cost peanuts..

bike weight 12kg apprx

Steel forks weighed a ton - swapped them out for planet x carbons - saved approx 1kg weight

what in your opinion would be the next thing to upgrade.

front wheel complete with tyre and tube = 1.6kgs on Quando hubs

not weigghed the back one

all help appreciated guys.

Wheels/tyres/tubes, for front 700/200/100g is not difficult to achieve. You could drop another kg then front and back, which I suspect you will find making your bike feels quite different and quite a bit more responsive.

The other good thing about investing in a really good pair of wheels, is that they are usually transferable to your next similar bike, this is especially the case for road bikes.

Wheels were certainly my next upgrade, but budget is tight and there are so many to choose from
