20 years ago I got married in a church with all the frills and whistles (and church organ) for £125.
It was the rest of the stuff that cost a fortune!

If we could do it for next to nothing that will be good, mainly on a not wanting to spend money on fripperies when we value the time with friends and family more then the single use fluff and show aspects.
Even our engagement rings were made on a 'no cost' basis.

Arch's is a scrap of Yew with three brass terminal screws from an old fuse box. Mine is alarm wire platted with wine bottle wire but needs remaking as I broke it.

Cor! Exciting news indeed! Congrats!

May I suggest a bicycle cavalcade of all your friends to accompany you when you head off for your first official day together?

Obviously all this went right over my head (its the male condition!) but congratulations to you both.

The chief/head registrar at Stockport that performed my wedding back in 2001 was a lovely chap so if he is still there I would recommend Stockport for the wedding. I'll pm you my address for the invite

Manchester or York. York it has to be. The title, Duchess of Manchester does not have the same ring to it.
That would be a come down for the Queen of Cake!^_^

It's a bit more complicated than that...

19 years ago we paid about the same for the church. The whole kit and caboodle came to under a grand - friends formed the choir and played the organ. Friends and family conducted the service. (It helps to have musical and ordained friends and family!) We did our own catering, with the help of another friend. We asked guests to bring their cameras and send us a copy of the pictures. The going-away vehicle was the number 4A bus. The honeymoon was a few nights in a pub. I think the most expensive single purchase was probably the wine - and there was plenty of that left over afterwards!

Congratulations and good luck.

I love the rings

I quite fancy something like this.

But without the rain.^_^

Incidentally, if you are looking for people to do that, I'd be willing to help.

Not because I'm fishing for an invite, but because I feel I need to do something to try and repay all of the horrendous and downright inane comments I've been responsible for on here! Ha ha!
