Pity about Estonia, but I still hold out hope...

Can't believe Iceland scored so low, proper cheesy eurotrash song as well I thought it'd do better.

Plus at least it was us and someone else that both got nil points from the audience.

Austria deserved to win, really good voice on that lad.

Look upthread!! 🤦‍♂️

Baffling. Our song wasn't a winner but seriously "0" from the audience? Winning song was poor IMHO. Far better songs out there. The international juries were clearly on very different wavelengths as well.

I predict all the songs will be sung in English except for the French entrant.
Not quite - but of the original 37 songs that made it to Basel, more than half were sung entirely or partly in English (which is the case for pretty well all recent ESC's).

Makes you think, eh ?

Surprised the Finnish dominatrix didn’t do better. I enjoyed that.

The Spanish lady was very, errm, talented. Her lyrics were truly bizarre, though.

Our song was appalling.

I quite like the winning song, but it wasn't my favourite, which was Iceland.

Definitely wasn't the strongest year, the Netherlands song was particularly awful I thought - if you're going to rely on the vocal that much yous better make damn sure you're a great singer and that fella wasn't.

Our song was appalling.
I didn't think it was that bad. It's one of the ones I'm still humming so the hook was good. Bara Bara Bastu (Sauna!) had the best hook of the night though.
Ours was a little derivative. Once you get into the fast verse it's very easy to go into Billy Joel's "My life" and the end of the verse is very reminiscent of "who's gonna drive you home - tonight?" by the Cars. The performance was good for a change.

I think the problem is that we are still sending well meaning youngsters (in this case musical theatre performers) instead of our best performers. With the exception of Bucks Fizz, all of our winners have been established pop acts with at least one big hit behind them (Lulu - Shout, Katrina and the Waves - Walking on Sunshine, Brotherhood of man less so but had a big hit in Europe two years before Eurovision) .

I do wonder what would happen if we sent say Little Mix, Adele, Robbie Williams, Take That, Ed Sheeran or any of our massive recording artists. Other countries do this.
