I'm toying with the idea of doing a night college course. I need to do more than go to my local pub, walk my dog and do online shopping. I need to interact more. I'm thinking about enrolling at either https://www.accross.ac.uk/news/coronavirus-advice/applicant-faqs/ ,or https://www.blackburn.ac.uk/. The thing is,i don't know which type of course to do. I'm not after an A-level or anything like that, more something practical and definitely not more males than females in the class. :okay:

Foreign language? Should have a good mix of genders
Or furniture restoration? Upholstery? Art?

Sorry, but I have to question your motives here. It sounds as if the goal is to be taking a course for the sake of it rather than learning anything.

Find something you're interested in and then look for a course on it rather than enrolling in some college and then trying to find something that interests you. The latter means you're wasting your time and the time of the people who run the course.

And if he finds that the course he's doing is something he likes, but never thought he would, that would be a plus.

What sort of things are you interested in? Creative writing might be good, or local history.

Do you have any DIY jobs that need to be done around the house? Could look for courses in plastering, decorating, brick laying, plumbing etc.

Or something that could lead to another career ladder. Could take a course in sign language?

I have typed in things i'm interested in,in the Blackburn College page, but they don't do courses in them.
You can search through ‘hobby’ courses here https://www.blackburn.ac.uk/courses/?programme=Hobby&page=1

Eg art intro but looks like you have to call (maybe it’s full)
https://www.blackburn.ac.uk/course-details/DR023/introduction-to-drawing-painting

Or how about life drawing starting next week
https://www.blackburn.ac.uk/course-details/DR022/life-drawing-for-beginners

pottery, says you need a keen interest

somewhat harsh/negative - accy is looking for something he is interested in. Lots of folk take evening classes for partly social reasons - that's fair enough. It's one of their great pluses. And accy has, shock shock, said that is part of his motive. Fair enough. Years and years ago a mate of mine chose to do some sort of art class with the shameful percentage reason of meeting women. Can't remember if this delivered any results but now, in semi lockdown, he has picked up his brushes again.
