I can’t tell without a reference to enter. Could be worth downloading it to see

Waste of time. It's no different to the site.
It gives a stupid answer, telling me to contact the sender (me!) and won't accept input other than the provided prompts.

What use is that?

Telephone contact is the same. If you want anything other than the two options presented to you, you're stuffed. And they have the cheek to end the call with, "...if there's anything else we can help you with, call back any time. " 🤬

They've had it at the sending depot for fifteen days and not once have they been in touch with me or the buyer.

It's clearly lost so I want compensation (£10) and refunded postage cost. However, there's no way to submit a claim on the site.

Someone from Evri has finally responded. They agree the package is lost in their system somewhere but they are fobbing me off to Ebay for a resolution.

The email goes on to say:

“I would advise you to get in touch with Ebay as they will be able to assist you further.
I can see that you purchased the shipping label for this parcel via Ebay. While your parcel was sent using the Evri network, Evri are regarded as the carrier in this situation as they provided you with the shipping label. This means that any claims for parcels which have become lost, damaged or delivered late will need to go directly to them so they can discuss the appropriate next steps with you.”

When I try to contact Ebay about it, their bot tells me there’s no trace of a case being opened for non-arrival of the package, probably because I already refunded the buyer, and ends the chat.

Is there any way out of this loop?

Try asking Ebay for a phone call, I've spoken to them this way: https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/eua?id=5275&mkpid=

Isn't this the correct thing to do, ie contact EBay?. Evri are EBay's subcontractor to deliver your parcel, your "contract" is with eBay, for the purchase of the goods. It is down to EBay to take up the matter of the failed delivery with Evri.

Apparently I have to raise a claim with yet another party, Packlink, because they’re who sold me the label through ebay. They don’t make it simple, do they?

At last I‘ve got it sorted but anyone using labels via Ebay should be aware of what to do if they suffer a lost package.

Although you seem to buy the postage label from Ebay, you’re actually buying it from another company called PackLink. In PackLink’s T&Cs they state you must notify them of a lost package within 30 days of posting it. In my case I missed this 30 day limit because Evri f*cked me around so much, with long delays between contact and them essentially ignoring my complaint.

However, PackLink said I might have a valid claim if I could show that I’d raised the loss with Evri within the 30 day period and could provide evidence of this along with Evri’s reply. Evri did not cooperate and I had to resort to a DSA request which it took three attempts to get them to respond to. That gave me the evidence I needed.

PackLink accepted the claim and paid out last week.

The whole saga has taken three months to conclude and Evri is now on the list of companies I’ll never use again, not because they lost the packet but because of how difficult they made it to achieve a resolution.
