I'm not convinced a day in Tamworth is a true reflection of an Alpine ski holiday ^_^
The snows different ,the weathers different ,the people are different, the views are amazing and the sheer space is unbelievable - i stood at the top of lake louise in canada at -37 just looking at the views and thinking how i had been so lucky to be standing there in the rockies to see one of the best views in my life - dont think i would get the same feeling standing in a warehouse in cmk

Sat and had a picnic at the top at Kitzbuhel and felt much the same. Then I did the hannenkahm bit slower than the racers though, and nothing really prepares you for the moment you go over the steilhang. I did stand at the northern cornice at Nevis range and thought to myself "nah, not for me" and that's from someone who chucked himself off a 20 ft cliff jump at Champoluc. The views are unsurpassable and so worth going.

The 'ski in a day' courses are probably a good bet. Each hour of skiing is quite pricey, and you don't want to spend it standing around while 12 other people stuff up a turn and fall over.
You want to get to the point of being able to do long blues as soon as possible. A one day course here, and maybe a private lesson on the mountain, and you'll be pretty much there. After that, it's just practice.
