Brilliant! Could you fix the weather too?

I'm planning to cycle to Fivehead this year instead of drive like I did last year; hopefully the weather will be alright when I cycle home
Hope you didn't get too soggy on the way home
ok, it was a touch damp. But brilliantly organised.
Thanks User482, and really good to meet you this time round!

It's really windy in Devon now, thankful it didn't blow in early this morning even though everyone got a soaking at some point. About 190 hardy souls braved the weather, well done to each and every one

Many thanks to the Cheddar Scouts crew including @User76 and Caroline, vorsprung, Dave, @Jefferson Meriwether (soup server extraordinaire) Lesley, Gill and Chris for stepping up to the plate and making sure everyone was fed, watered and generally pampered and for making Luppitt happen. Thanks also to @Chuffy for his kitchen-wizardry and of course, Big Dave.

I think this is now a race against Bertha to see who gets to Exmouth first.
Bertha won!

T'was good to see all the happy cyclists coming through. How did the tandem father & son duo do Baggy? Did you two pass them on your way to Luppit?

I got slightly lost on the way back to the Ilminster roundabout and spent a good 25 minutes/6 miles cycling round the country lanes getting soggy wet & wondering how to get back on the A358. I eventually got home about half eight. Thanks for the loan of your coat Baggy; it kept me nice and warm & reasonably dry. I'll have to arrange getting it back to you sometime soon

I'm looking forward to next year already; I've already got my soup serving ladle ready for action lol

I been watching this from afar (China), Baggy, and am glad you and Chuffy managed yet again to get it all organised. I know that there have been many others involved as well so a good job completed for another year. With all the bad weather forecast the turn out of 190 cyclists is also something to show how popular the event has become. Perhaps one year I can be home to join in the ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Didn't make it this year, work over the weekend, and personal issues keeping me off the bike. Well done to all who completed the ride and hope I'll be back next year (to demonstrate just how slowly it can be done).

@Baggy - I've tried to send an email (I think it's supposed to go on to @Chuffy) via the link on the EE web site to get my email address on the records changed but it bounced. Please can someone look at it and I'll try again, or I'll stop getting the updates in a few weeks time!

Good evening Baggy.

Just wanted to say thanks for organizing a cracking event.

I would hope that the site receives plenty of messages of thanks to all of the helpers who turned out to feed and water the riders.

The stop at cheddar with the kids guiding the riders into the hall, the fantastic soup at fivehead and the magnificent effort of setting up the tea station at the top of the windswept black hills? (Not local so may not be factually correct).

Will defefinately be back next year with one or two others from Milton Keynes in tow.

I havent ridden this before so can't comment on Bristol but the ride out through 2 tunnels was excellent.

Pleased to hear you (eventually!) got back safely and that the coat was of some use! No panic to return it.
We passed the tandem and they made it to Luppitt, where we plied them with hot drinks and sat them up in the car to warm up for a few minutes - they had decided shortly before to call it a day as the poor lad could hardly sit down! The weather was pretty vile on the Dunkeswell stretch to the tea stop, but after warming up they trundled down the hill to Honiton, where they were picked up. A great effort given the set up of the tandem and the weather conditions, hopefully it won't put the son off cycling for life!

Good to see you and thanks again for your sterling support

Thanks for coming along! We were impressed and surprised that so many people turned out (and finished!) given the forecast. Glad that people still enjoyed it and stayed in such good spirits, it makes it an enjoyable experience for all the helpers. We have a had a lot of nice messages via email, twitter and Facebook and various fora which are much appreciated - and it's really good to know that people enjoyed the new two tunnels section.

We were really pleased the tea station at Luppitt worked out in the end (and yes, it's the Blackdown hills it's near), with the weather as it was it was important that riders could have a much needed hot drink before the final leg. Thanks go to our friend Gill for that, she could have had a cosy night helping at Fivehead, but after a couple of volunteers popped up at the last minute she offered to take on the great outdoors, along with Chris. Have to say I'm glad I wasn't on duty there this year :rain:

Hope to see you next year (I'm from Newport Pagnell btw!).
