Radio 2 now - Jeremy Vine show (quelle surprise) hosted by Richard Bacon. Woman saying cyclists are a menace to dogs as four dogs have been killed by cyclists in her park..

At http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/ there's a 'listen live' button.

Emails can be sent in from here

Perhaps the danger posed to cyclists by someone's "He's only being friendly" pooch which is growling, slobbering and snapping at your legs needs to be pointed out..

And how utterly dangerous those extending leads are...

And dogs are dangerous to cyclists.

None more so than mine who tries to knock me off everytime I cycle down the drive.

We had a dog that would chase people on a bike, in the end we had to take the bike off the dog.

when on shared paths, i despair of the idiots who've let the dog off and stand on the other side of the path. they then see/hear you coming and call the dog over so you have to do an emergency stop as the animal walks to them right in front of you…

on said shared path, i've also been bitten (not badly) by a doberman, which was off the lead. the owner had a very small dog on the lead and a small child with her. when she saw what had happened she apologised and said he'd never done it before. i looked at her lad and told her that he has now. she looked ashen faced at that point. i also told her that if i saw her with it off the lead on that path again, i'd report the bite.

I was knocked off my bike by a dog once - off its lead in a public park. The owner didn't even stop to see if I was ok (I was lying on the ground, bleeding).

First case quoted by Mrs Anti-cyclist.. about nasty cyclist killing dog, the dog was about 30 feet from the cyclist and owner was not even looking in the direction of the dog... and it's all the fault of irresponsible, fast, dangerous cyclist.. Sigh..

And now Mrs Anti Cyclist admits to having her dog off the lead in said park, but, naturally, she puts her dog on the lead if she wants to cross the cycle path... and of course, she's an entirely responsible dog owner

Unfortunately even being on the lead is no guarantee of bite-immunity. I was once bitten (not by a Dobers  : a little yappy terrier ) on a short lead - not an expanding job - on a bridle path. Owners in attendance. Owners oblivious until I - ahem - mentioned the fact.
