@Mrs Kes popped out on a quick club ride for an hour last night.....
Came back with 2 pringled wheels..... front one might be reparable, but the back one has split the rim and is toast.

She is a lunatic fearless descender (even in the dark) and managed to hit a pothole at about 40mph. She's lucky not to have come off tbh...

Still suppose it makes it easy to find a birthday present for her... new wheelset ordered this morning

Blimey, that could have been nasty - Shame about the bike but I am glad she is okay!

Reduced visibility of hazards is one of the things that puts me off night riding. (The main one being that I like being able to look at the scenery when I am out.)

I can well imagine having sampled the quality of the roads in your neck of the woods, night riding here is bliss.

I know what you mean, but I think the scenery on a nice clear night is breathtaking - the moon and the stars are fascinating.
Close call for @Mrs Kes , glad she managed to stay upright .

I like riding at night in the country. Different sensation of speed, different atmosphere, and different wildlife (especially at dusk).
