I have a couple of power banks i use - to keep the - Garmin, camera, tablet etc going - they just hang in a pouch attached to the brake cables by a carabiner - either charging stuff or getting charged from the hub - was pleasantly surprised that getting wet from time to time didn't seem to affect them

The problem is usually the cable. Some have enabled pins that put the Garmin into "Storage" mode, awaiting data- effectively disabling it as a GPS. Other cables have these pins disabled and powers the Garmin without the data.

Can you give links to both sorts? How can you tell if a cable is the GPS enabling kind?

Only ever done it by trial and error
I have lots of spare cables and simply swapped until one worked
