This is another donation to Enviroability, currently listed on their eBay. Much as I hate the phrase, this one really is a barn find. When it arrived, it was fitted with horrid modern drop bar brake levers as well as two different gear shifters (Sturmey Archer and Cyclo) and a Cyclo rear mech, all operating the lack of gears on the fixed/free hub it was also fitted with. I think it's late 1940s but beyond that I know nothing about it. The frame number does not seem to fit with the online database I found. Anyone know anything about this bike?

Looks a bit grubby.

Probably sacrelidge to most old bike 'enthusiasts' but I'd actually keep the frame as is and fit some modern in-keeping parts from the likes of Velo-Orange,Rene Herse etc with bar end levers single chainring etc.

Somewhere I read:
Tradition isn't keeping the ashes but passing on the amber.
In particular the brakes on this frame would be my main concern if someone will be riding it.
