Actually you're very right. It just occured to me that even if one thought that Viking Bay was too busy, the other 6 bays can be very quiet (like the one in the photo I took). So you've got loads of choice around Broadstairs.


Having taken a look at t'internet, it would appear that Broadstairs has a number of beaches. The one I recall didn't have a promenade. It was a small secluded (chalk cliffs on three sides) beach with one shop halfway up the stairs, a bit of greenery on the top of the cliff and one pub.
