I watched it by accident and enjoyed it. I've set it to record the rest of the series.

I thought it was brilliant in parts, and actually got better and sharper as it went along - the final scene was great, even if it owed a major debt to Pulp Fiction.

However I thought some of the dialogue and acting was a bit patchy and it certainly didn't grip me in the way that the original film did. I am sure I will continue to watch it though.

It was the little touches that did it for me - Molly bringing bad news but remembering to pick up the paint!

First episode was very good, Billy Bob Thornton was excellent in it especially the scene at the end when he got stopped by the cop

It's a bit like somebody cut up the film and stuck it all back together in the wrong order but enjoyable nonetheless. I hadn't read up on it so didn't know it was directed by the Coens but soon guessed. Mrs Gti always refused to watch the film but has now decided she will, once the series finishes. How many episodes, anyway?

Quite. One often finds that artistic values are compromised by crass commercial interests in the televisual medium doesn't one? In addition and furthermore, one finds it hard to follow the narrative when one's head is embedded so deeply in one's arse. Don't you think?

I enjoyed it I thought Billy Bob Thornton was great Martin Freeman not so great.

I think Millers Crossing is probably my favourite Coen film.

MrsD and I really enjoyed the first episode last night, the black humour appealed greatly, I particularly like the apparent 'just for the hell of it' setting up of people by the BBT character. Brothers fighting in snow outside with policewoman flying in to stop it in the view of the background was lovely.
Apparently the Coens aren't involved at all really apart from having themselves credited as producers, which on most American TV series can be anyone remotely interested, including the authors dog and the actual producers best mate from school that he hasn't seen for years.

I find it a bit weird that they've signed off on someone having control over one of their best films. As an arty creative type, I'd find that very difficult.

I see the first series is being repeated on BBC Three, but can't find any sign of series 2 on Freesat. Do tell......................!

It's not the same as the film. It is a kind of homage, which I'm sure they love the idea of.

Hmmm... In that case it sounds like a bit of self indulgent nonsense. I'll get to 4OD before I form too many preconceptions!
