Anyway, the smells I like tend to change all the time. My favourites right now:

my son
new mown grass
jasmine on a summer evening
strawberries simmering in sugar syrup
and on me, Caron Pour Homme

Surely, the 'new car' smell - which I hate - is simply the off-gassing of synthetic materials?

I have never understood the "new car smell" appeal.

The "new wool carpet smell" is fantastic.

The scent of Jasmine flowers.
The scent of Stock flowers.
Also, the Stephanotis flower is similar. Beautiful smell.
Cellulose paint.
Curry.
Mahogany wood being sawn.
Onions frying.....nearly forgot that one

My dog when she's just been bathed.
The smell from the rough side of a box of matches when you've just ran a match along it. Not sure why I like that but I do.

(I don't indulge in it, and I don't like what it is doing to a significant proportion of the population, but it does have a rather nice smell.)
