I love the smell of freshly cut grass, my favourite perfume (Simply Irresistible by Givency) and sex. Sorry to be so blunt but it is a lovely smell!

Yes the new car smell is all the adhesives, vinyls, carpets and rubbers mixed up together. The problem is that synthetic molecules don't exist that give the same odours in a usable, safe or stable way. Most new car smells end up being leathery accords, which perfumers can do.

That distinctive smell of rain is petrichor, a well-recognised phenomenon. You can predict rain approaching from miles away when you recognise petrichor.
