I used to find blackcurrant or honey & lemon Tunes were effective (don't know if they still make them).

Didn't they make Lockets with local anaesthetic at one time?

When I get acid stomach, I take gaviscon plus. Bear with me....

They put weird algae stuff in it to line your stomach, but it also makes your throat feel coated as well. It's quite expensive though.

Blackcurrant strepsils are my cough sweet of choice. They make your throat go slightly numb but not so it makes you want to gag (nice) Halls mentholyptus also are very good at stopping me from coughing.
