Glen Moray isn't an Aldi whisky. You can get it in any supermarket round here. Its made in Elgin and is owned by the same people who own Glenlivit. If Aldi are selling it for £15 its a bit of a bargain

No mention of the Ardbeg yet, the best of the Islay Malts if you ask me. I tend to stick with the Islay malts but was bought a bottle of The Bladnoch which is a lowland and was pleasantly surprised have drunk a couple of bottles of it now well worth spending your pennies on.

Paddy is nice as a chaser for Beamish Red had more than a couple of nice sessions in Finnegans Wake when I lived in Redlands.

Excuse my confusion. On the label it says something like The Glen Moray and Glenlivit distilleries.

Geographically Bladnoch is similar to a lot of distilleries north of the highland line in its location at the foot of the mountains. I visited the distillery in September and found a nice traditional family owned place. The lady who let me taste some samples was the owner's wife and the owner wandered past at one point looking for chairs as they had a reading going on for the local book festival at Wigtown that night. A bit more hands on than most distilleries which are in the hands of big drinks conglomerates. Bladnoch have their own forum which is free to join and allows access to some special bottlings which they source from around Scotland as well as their own. http://www.bladnoch.co.uk/

For me, it's a dead heat between Lagavulin and Talisker 18 yo, with just a dash of water, and definitely no ice, which would completely kill the flavour. I'm also fond of Highland Park, Laphroaig and Bruichladdich. I have some Bowmore in at the moment, but I'm finding it rather disappointing, especially as it's clearly what Sainsbury's use for their own brand Islay malt, which is a fair bit cheaper.

I'm not keen on most of the Speyside and lowland whiskies.

I have tried quite a few over the years .And how the palate changes .Highland Park is my fave at the mo '.But i also like Paddy an Irish and a very nice taste .

I'm not really a vodka drinker, but I'm told be someone who is that Tyrell's Vodka (now apparently called Chase Vodka, and made in Herefordshire by the same people who make nice crisps) is good. Expensive though, at around £30 a bottle.
