It also sounds like you're the only sensible person at work. If they start up again and hold you responsible for what random other cyclists do, just lean toward them, stare them in the eye and say:

"Why should I listen to you drivers? YOU KILLED DIANA!"

The crazy thing is about 60% of the office live within a mile of it but still drive here, the furthest person is me and I'm only 6 miles away.

I also drive and I must say I'll rather call myself a cyclist than a driver

We should ask them why they don't rant at all the other people driving cars...as they are the ones holding up their progress not the odd cyclist ... not to mention the drivers who RLJ, park illegally, drive with no lights on, drive unroadworthy heaps of metal

And there is always one turd who blocks the cycle lane when waiting at the lights.

I think I'm going to start saying "Oh, you drive a car - all drivers speed, tailgate, pass too close, text at the wheel, move lanes without signalling, jump red lights, park inconsiderately, enter advance stop boxes, drive with no insurance". (Even though I drive).

It might make those who lump all cyclists together realise what a stupid argument it is.

I had someone recently who started to go on about cyclists ruining the Surrey Hills and getting in the way...I politely said that we would likely never agree and not to start! She was an avid skier, I would have thought skiing ruins hills (ok, mountains) for people who don't wish to ski!!

It's amazing how many people think we are in their way. I always respond with "what makes you think you're not in my way?" . That usually shuts them up.

* of course I know that it's not a road tax, but for simplicity why not carry on the conversation in the terms that the idiot has chosen

I was in an unusual position on Thursday of having to brake to avoid overtaking a van at a pinch point
Btw, Haley is a lovely girl, she used to work at Gosh Comics and her father's From Hell artist Eddie Campbell and her godfather's Neil Gaiman!

If people are paying so much road tax then they really ought to be writing to their MPs about it, because the roads are in a shocking state!
