Yes, 'attsit, Slash at the Hydro, but I was working for Chris Rea at the Armadillo.
When there are concerts on, it is very difficult to cycle out of the SECC compound towards town: take the road, the multitude of black cabs speeding in and out of the venue try to run you over, while the adjacent riverside shared cycle path is full of drunken pedestrians.

Yep , am one of those drunk peds walking along the Clyde thinking where the fek am I ^_^

I had 2 customers try and pick an anti cycling fight with me this morning. Cyclists should all be mown down they don't pay road tax and shouldn't be allowed on the road, blah blah blah. I pointed out that she drove a prius which was exempt from paying VED, which took the wind out of her sails a bit. Apparently an exempt car is different and has a right to be on the roads, which were built for cars in the first place. I then pointed out that they were built for horses and carts, long before the infernal combustion engine was ever thought of.

I too got the red light rant, all cyclists should be licenced, insured and should pay tax yada yada, even kids. I felt like giving her my Christmas tip back but I wasn't quite that miffed.

It takes her 10 minutes to drive the 1 mile to work every other day. She was stunned when I said that I could ride that route in about 4 minutes, certainly less than 5. There are no traffic lights between her house and her place of work either so I don't know where she sees all these RLJers every other morning. No roundabouts either. Funny woman.

As a cyclist, horse rider, dog walking pedestrian, 4x4 driver (sometimes with horse trailer) I've been stereotyped and taken abuse like this just for being there cos some people think I have no right. Husband is a trucker and son a motorbiker so seen it from that side too. What's wrong with people? Why can't we all just be courteous and give each other space? :headshake:
