Not mine, others towards me as a cyclist.
Tonight, 3 colleagues ganged up on me, 2 drivers, one pedestrian. The usual, red light jumping, road tax, not using the cycle lane.
First of all, you allowed to use the word shite. Its sh1t you can't use.Not mine, others towards me as a cyclist.

Reason? We were working at a concert, I casually observed that if the manager did not close our bar soon I would be stuck between drunken concert goers on the cycle path or mad taxi drivers doing the venue to town run on the road.
All hell broke loose: I'm not supposed to use the road if there's a path available, all cyclist jump red lights, they hold traffic up, why do they go in front of buses, road tax, cycling license ... the usual s***e
Now, I'm very conscious of being slow, so I use mostly paths when available, especially if I'm riding the heavy single speed, but tonight I felt like taking up a full lane at 5mph!
I didn't, of course, managed to leave before the concert finished, used the path like a good girl
Then the women's cycle forum on FB shares how not to die on a bike in London ... even me here in the sticks know this is pure rubbish, so I feel more peeved!
Thank heaven for cycle chat, a wee rant, I'm already in a better mood![]()
Probably best you don't do or say most of this @Pat "5mph"First of all, you allowed to use the word shite. Its sh1t you can't use.
Red light jumping: ifno one is crossing, if no cars are comig, feel free to jump. It a the motorists who can't rlj.
Road tax: tell them you pay road tax and glue a round piece of paper with "ass tax" written on it to your body.
Not using the cycle lane: tell them when buses stop using the bus lane then I'll stop using the cycle lane (that'll really confuse em)
Cyclist hold up traffic: if the traffic wasn't there then cyclists would ride a lot faster.
Why get in front of buses: because don't want to sniff diesel fumes from behind.
Cycle license: we have one, its called cycle lane. Tell drivers to stay out of it. This will also confuse them.
Tell your colleagues to sign up to cyclechat and look me up, I'm looking to -explain- things.![]()
Did you see the Ali G movie from a few years ago? The conversation between Ali g and the politician on TV rings a bell and has to do with the politicians =adventures= with a horse. That would make a good one liner!I've spent years pondering a response scenario for such a situation. When someone comes out with drivel like that to me I respond, "f*** off."
Theres a podcast I listen to (bike shop show) and he starts off with "you're not stuck in traffic, you ARE traffic".Cyclists don't hold up traffic, other cars do whether moving or parked!
No worries, wasn't planning toProbably best you don't do or say most of this @Pat "5mph"
Actually my experience has been quite different. About a month ago someone started up with me at work, pretty much the exact same thing pat and all of you mentioned. But instead of me being surrounded by drivers, the driver dude got surrounded by cyclists! It was rather awesome to see him defeated in every point he made. :thumb:
I would love that to happen, sadly I'm the only one who does cycle into work![]()
