I did manage to sand the end of my finger flat using a sander in wood work when i was at school when the wood i was sanding down slipped and my finger went into the rotating disk......

I've worked it out

While attempting to fettle the brake adjustment, you pricked your finger on a splinter of brake cable (intense instant pain), thus forcing you to stuff your finger in your mouth (as you do when you injure a finger) while at that very moment in time, you sneezed (woman flu) causing the finger end to be bitten off
