Fig rolls are the work of the devil. Avoid.

If you want something with that same sort of non-crumbly consistency that tastes slightly better, try McVitie's Go Fruit Bakes, or shop-specific derivatives thereof.

If you want something fruity, take a banana or a bag of mixed fruit.

If you want something sweet, there's a lot to be said for the humble flapjack.

OT! The OP was specifically concerned with fig derived snacks.....
I was responding to @Dec66

I can't remember the last time I ate a fig roll. Dried figs a bit gritty and dates are revolting on every level. Apricots and dried mango on the other hand...:hungry:

The OP has just bought bib shorts and is also talking about trying energy gels in another thread, I would suggest that if adding figs into the mix, he wears the bibs over the jersey for quick removal!

I wouldn't contemplate eating figs on a ride longer than 30 miles for that very reason, bib shorts or not. Even though I put Dioralyte in my bidon for the longest ones I do!

I like fig rolls, even though (like sausage rolls) if you hold them end on, they look like the back end of a labrador with its tail raised.
