Waindell,
Saw Argo just after it got the Best Picture Oscar.

Apart from being factually inaccurate (which I could forgive) it was dull and predictable.

I kept expecting something amazing was about to happen - instead it had the silliest chase scene ever and then finished.....meh

Ang Lee's Hulk was a bit cack too: "Don't make me Ang Lee; you won't like me when I'm Ang Lee".
Now after hearing numerous bad reports about ang lee's Hulk, I planned to avoid it, then one good report and I decided to watch it... I like it... it's a lot more than just monsters hitting each other, which was all the Ed Norton version was, that was dire.

OK, MV. My comment was only an excuse to shoehorn in my Ang Lee gag (which was actually Stewart Lee's gag)!

We saw one about a year or two about the destruction of the earth by a comet (or another planet?). was meant to be critcally aclaimed or something along those lines. I remember getting ot the end of it (simply because we had nothing else to do) and commenting "well at least there won't be a sequel" as the earth disintergrated and everyone was killed.
Can't think what it was called, OK - found it "Melancholia" It's list of awards including best pictures of 2011 go on and on...

I'll certainly agree with Withnail and I, and The Hurt Locker. And I'll also give you A Clockwork Orange, a Secrets and Lies, and Eraserhead.

However, I'll disagree with Pulp Fiction - quite possibly my all time favourite film.

I think Hurt Locker and Argo are good calls. Both well reviewed, though not having seen either I have no personal opinion.

Despite the rave reviews it got, I thought The French Connection was like a documentary without the helpful voiceover in the background to let you know what's actually going on.
